I've been insanely busy lately, but I couldn't wait any longer to review some of the new Spring/Summer 2010 collections. I have so much I want to comment on, but it would probably take years to fit it all in. That's actually one reason why I love the fashion world, it never stops moving. So many of the dresses at Caroline Herrera were absolutely stunning. The colors and silhouettes were just so elegant. A few even reminded
me of that old Hollywood glamour, yet the shiny fabrics added more of a twist.I was extremely disappointed in Zac Posen. I could see a definite Latin influence, but it was too tacky for my taste. A few pieces just looked so hideously gaudy, I felt like it belonged in a costume shop from the 80s.
Another major disappointment of 2010 was the Chanel Resort collection. My verdict is similar to what I decided on Zac Posen- too garish. It makes me so sad to write that, because Coco Chanel has always been one of my idols. I loved early Chanel, and how it used to be known for its timelessness. I have no idea what happened over the years, but hopefully one day, Karl Lagerfeld comes to his senses or even better, take off his sunglasses and see the damage.
xoxo R.R.
